Universal City is taking a significant step towards improving its pedestrian infrastructure with the introduction of Dax robots, according to the City of Universal City News Flash. These robots will traverse approximately 12 miles of high-priority sidewalk corridors, collecting detailed measurements to help the city develop a comprehensive record of its pedestrian infrastructure.
The Dax robots are designed to identify and measure various features, including sidewalk width, running slopes, cross-slopes, curb-ramp geometry, surface conditions, and potential hazards. This information will be mapped and analyzed, providing engineers and planners with a clearer understanding of where improvements are needed. This initiative aims to prioritize future projects and enhance accessibility for all residents.
The corridors set to be surveyed include Universal City Blvd. from Mount Helicon to Northlake Pass, Kitty Hawk Road from Lone Shadow Trail to Pat Booker Road, Old Cimarron Trail from Kitty Hawk Road to FM 1976, E. Aviation Blvd. from Travis Drive to Aztec Way, and Athenian Drive from Forum Road to Phoenix Drive. In total, these routes cover a distance of 12 miles. The city has assured residents that the robots will not collect any data from pedestrian encounters during their operations.
In other news, the 55+Activities Men's Club is offering a special day for its members, featuring specialty spa appointments courtesy of Krowned Beard and Barber and the Priest Holmes Foundation. This event is a complimentary treat for the club's members, providing first-class service with Krowned's exclusive line of products. Due to limited availability, early registration is encouraged.
While the gentlemen enjoy their spa day, other activities are available for seniors, including bingo at Neville Clubhouse and yoga at Red Horse Park. All sessions begin at 10 a.m., ensuring a full day of engagement and relaxation for Universal City's senior community.
These initiatives reflect Universal City's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, from improving infrastructure to providing enriching activities for seniors.
